800 Separate Business Meetings over 2 days. Rutherford International, GFG member for Canada, proved an excellent host for the 2002 Spring Conference held at the Fairmont Royal Hotel in Toronto from April 21 to 24.

Heightened security and visa restrictions into North America following September 11 had a slightly adverse effect on attendance – but 55 delegates accompanied by 11 spouses/partners and even two children (the delightful daughters of Niral and Neeranjini Kadawatharatchie from Freight Links in Sri Lanka) managed to attend.

Group President Les Allan said that, considering the restrictions, the attendance was excellent and business was brisk. “In all nearly 800 separate meeting were held between members during over the course of two days and in anybody’s book that’s a lot of business.”

Highlights of the formal proceedings included the election of three new GFG directors, the re-election of three existing directors and first-appearance presentations from five new observer members.
